LIVE ALOHA

TREAD LIGHTLY

The VinFast IRONMAN World Championship is committed to "Live Aloha and Tread Lightly"

The VinFast IRONMAN World Championship has partnered with local Hawaiian non-profits to develop Hawaiian Cultural Enrichment and Community Service programs for our VinFast IRONMAN World Championship ʻohana athletes and their families.

These unique opportunities ......

  • Teach mālama ʻāina (care for our land)

  • Provide Hawaiian cultural education

  • Grow healthy relationships with our local community

Enjoy these opportunities that have been created just for you and your ʻohana (family).

The VinFast IRONMAN World Championship experience is even more than just race day it is about the people, the place, and the entire experience. Participate in learning about the history of these islands as you do your part to care for the ʻāina (land). Receive the gift Hawaiʻi has to give - as you learn how to live aloha while you are here in Hawaiʻi and even after you return home!

Intro to Hawaiian Coral Reefs and
Snorkeling Coral ID Course

Courses Offered Daily

This course has two components; a classroom on shore and a hands-on in-water experience. Great for all ages as long as you can swim! In this course you will learn the basics of coral biology, the importance of coral reefs, and what the solutions are to restore and protect this quickly disappearing resource! We will also teach you to identify the most common Hawaiian corals by species while snorkeling at one of the pristine coastal locations. Our in-water guides will be there to assist you and point out the corals you learned about on shore! All of our courses and snorkel locations are from shore on the West Side of the Big Island and will vary depending on our monitoring needs and sea conditions.

Training for Ironman ʻohana to learn the heart of the land, people, and culture

Mission statement:

To provide Hawaiian Cultural Enrichment programs for VinFast IRONMAN World Championship 'Ohana and Athletes to gain skills in Hawaiian community service through mālama ʻāina (care for the island) activities, Hawaiian cultural education, and healthy relationship with locals on the island.

This program is a three-fold initiative that connects VinFast IRONMAN World Championship ʻOhana and Athletes with Native Hawaiian Cultural Education, equipping our visitors to:

  • Honor the host culture and engage with native community organizations

  • Train VinFast IRONMAN World Championship ʻOhana and Athletes in mālama ʻāina (care for the land) as they benefit from VinFast IRONMAN World Championship partnerships who share the value and beauty of the land of Hawaiʻi and it's people

  • Be a part of participating in a commitment to the environmental quality of Hawaiʻi residents, as well as the commitment to the quality of the VinFast IRONMAN World Championship ʻohana experience on Hawaiʻi Island

This initiative will provide VinFast IRONMAN World Championship ʻohana with a holistic approach to Hawai'i cultural community training that help strengthens relationships with local residents & the visitor industry. This enrichment program supports cultural natural resources such as conservation and revitalization of Hawaiʻi core reef systems (ʻāpapapa), by advocating for “reef-safe sunscreen” and cultural education on sacred sites such as Ahuʻena Heiau.
